Secret Sanctuaries

 Kyllästyin sairasteluun ja päätin lähteä lenkille, miten paljon luonto onkaan jo herännyt ja ihmiset ovat alkaneet hääräillä pihoillaan ja parvekkeilla. Täällä keskustassa asuessani harvemmin pääsen nauttimaan antoisista metsäkävelyistä, joten tyytyminen on kortteliralliin!

Näin kesän ollessa lähellä, on ihana katsella mitä kaikkea kivaa ihmiset laittavat pihoilleen ja parvekkeilleen. Oma maisema ikkunoistani on melkoisen lannistava, erään kaupan varaston seinä, joten katselen aina mustankipeänä muiden ihania maisemia. Kaupunkimaisemakin voi olla kaunis kunhan avaa silmänsä katsomaan arkkitehtuuria, värejä, kulmia, koukeroita tai edes pientä pilkahdusta luonnon antimista.

 Suomi herää eloon yhdessä luonnon kanssa ja tässä pieniä maistiaisia joihin lenkilläni törmäsin.

I live in midtown and it is hard to get into real nature to take a walk so I have to settle walking around the blocks. Finland is very season oriented country - we sleep all winter and live at summer time. It is lovely to see how people wake up within the same cycle as nature. Suddenly you see life at balconies and backyards, flowers, furniture or even someone spending time out there! Every year at this time I become a backyard stalker! Its funny how you can imagine a life at those gardens and backyards, people living there and starting up their most vivid time of their year - summer.

from these apartments you can admire small forest and rabbits that run all over the place - here is no pressure to decorate your balcony wiew, nature does it for you.

This arch has always enthralled me, behind it is a small table group and at midsommer its full of blooming flowers, shame about the road next to it..

This backyard is my ultimate favourite in Kuopio! It is so secret that not many people even notice it when passing by. Its unique style this north! This yard works in every season - this picture is not giving justise to it but if you are local or visiting here I challenge you to seek for it!

Kuopio used to be mainly beautiful woodhouses but because of war, time and the superidea of making Kuopio look like a showroom of everytype of architecture (I am referring to one spesific shoppingmall next to marketplace that looks like a mothership that landed there a decade a go), but there are a few pearls left!

Flower therapy

Äitienpäivä rutiineihimme kuuluu, että käymme jossain kukkakaupassa/puutarhassa ostamassa äidillemme kukkia tai muita kasveja. Tämänkertaisen äitienpäivän kukkaostos kohteena oli lemppari puutarhani Kuopiossa: Heikkisen ja Hännisen puutarhat. He myyvät kukkia ja taimia Kuopion torillakin, mutta voin koko sydämestäni suositella kokeilemaan itse puutarhalla käyntiä. 

Kun astuin sisään Hännisen puutarhan kasvihuoneisiin, tuntui että kaikki stressi, väsymys, tekemättömät työt, huolet ja yliaktiiviset ajatukset katosivat. Oli kesä, jokapaikassa oli ihania värikkäitä kukkia, uusia alkuja, oi ne tuoksut ja kostean lämmin ilma. Totesin, että voisin jäädä sinne päiväksi nautiskelemaan kukkaterapiasta. Henkilökohtainen suosikkini näistä kahdesta on Hännisen puutarha, se on niin kodikas, luonnonmukainen, ihanan korvessa ja taimet taitavat pääosin olla suomalaisia. Heikkisellä on myös todella hyvät ja laajat valikoimat, mutta tunnelma on hieman erilainen ja melko moderni.

Our mothersday tradition has allways been visiting some flowermarket or garden and buy something for our mom. This time we went to my favourite garden nearby Kuopio. When I step into greenhouse I started to heal, I forgot my troubles, stress, flu and everything! It was summer there, new starts, those smells and warm moist air.. Heaven and flower therapy!

Sun Dance

Valon lisääntyessä keväisin törmään aina samaan ongelmaan, jolloin aurinko paistaa suoraan ikkunoistani sisään niin, että tarvitsen aurinkolasit sisälläkin. Rakastan valoa ja haluan päästää sen sisään, mutta haluan myös säästää silmäni jatkuvalta siristämiseltä. Löysin jo syksyllä hyvän ratkaisun tähän ongelmaani ilman, että minun täytyy sulkea verhoni. Löysin Ikeasta pitsiset paneeliverhot, jotka suodattavat valon juuri sopivasti. Verhojen luomat kuviotkin ovat mielestäni hauskat ja tekevät kaikista pinnoista hieman erilaisia hetkeksi, jolloin aurinko haluaa leikkiä kodissani. 

When sun in back in Finland at spring time the light is astonishing. Finally there is light after long winter time but that light is also quite brutal when it reveals all the dust you have in your home and it shines directly to your eyes. I love light but also my eyes, so I needed to fix this squintin problem at my house. I found nice lace panel curtains from Ikea last fall that solved the problem. I can use them on my windows and watch how this pattern circle around while sun wants to play inside my home.
